Project Description
Following the success of producing the Vision and development strategy for Al Ha’ir, Buro Happold together with a local landscape architect were appointed to realises the development concept for Zone 5 of Wadi Hanifah in Riyadh.
Working on behalf of the Riyadh Development Authority, the design brief required the team to provide “sufficient detail to allow a competent contractor to build it” to accommodate common practice of responsive on-site design during construction.
With the contractor selected, we were able to observe their style of work, and develop landscape details they would be able to follow, which were matched to a more detailed engineering package.
Adam played a key role in ensuring alignment between the engineers and landscape team to ensure the project would align to an agreed budget. A number of key compromises were needed to be made to ensure the environmental objectives were not overcome by the recreational pressures.
