Project Description

As part of a Masters in Urban Design, this project expored the development potential of Old Oak Common. A high-profile development site and subject to internation design tender, the site will be a key node in London’s regional transport network providing interchange between crossrail, HS2 and the London Underground.

The proposal deviated from the brief, by rationalising the transport infrastructure corridors, and in doing so retain more of the existing, but largely underutilised wild space in the core of the site. The introduction of a landbridge over the railway connected the common with a new open space and the Grand Union canal corridor to tap into the tow-path and wider cycle network of London.

Retention of a high percentage of open space and public supported the higher densities of the site to realise more than 2.7m m2 GFA.
